XL bullys & imposter syndrome
Hey friends,
I hope you had a fruitful week working towards your goals 🙂 ! A short one this week because we are a bit behind schedule..
This past week I decided to try some new things out because 2024 is all about experimentation and building on our growth mindsets… In summary:
I am creating an e-guide to help new grad vets survive in practice, you can sign up here (this process has absolutely HUMBLED me because in my head it was doable, but doing it made me feel all sorts of imposter syndrome on if I was even ‘good enough’ or ‘capable enough’ to get this guide done.. BUT we are approaching with an experimentation mindset and if anything it is helping me revise many aspects of veterinary medicine during the process of creation.)
Interviewed three amazing University of Central Lancashire vet students - so exciting as they are reading at the newest vet school in town! You can follow the podcast here - episodes to be released in due time!
Testing new pet tech… can’t reveal much yet but I am excited to 🙂 Always amazed by the inventions people create to help our animals.
Finishing my nutrition certificate - final few assignments and exams left.. ahh wish me luck!
Vet news
Vets are expecting to neuter a large amount of XL bullys in the next few weeks before the end of June deadline, more details here. Unfortunately, there have been more reports of complications in neutering in this breed, with some practices adapting protocols to include lungworm testing and tranexamic acid medication during the surgery.
It’s been a week since the cat microchip law kicked in, so people should microchip their cats or face a £500 fine! More details here
Lastly, not sure if this helps anyone, but lately I have started to acknowledge myself for who I am, (who I truly am, not who I think others expect me to be) and I am accepting that I am not the ideal version of myself I want to be yet.. and that is OK. In the endless pursuit of self development, let us not forget that we have inherent value, just by being. A gentle reminder that YOU are enough. I’m rooting for you this week!
Lots of hugs,
May xx

Perhaps we could all be a little more ‘cat’.
